SANTA CLARA, Calif., Sept 20, 2023 – Cloudera, the data company for trusted enterprise artificial intelligence (AI), announced today that it is certified by Fair Pay Workplace for its continued efforts to equitably compensate employees for equitable work. To achieve this, Cloudera underwent a comprehensive evaluation of its pay data and practices, committed to maintaining pay parity and pay equity, and is continuing to review pay practices in order to provide equitable pay for equitable work.

CEO, Charles Sansbury said, “Cloudera is committed to delivering results and acting with integrity, striving for greater equality and enabling equal opportunities for all, irrespective of gender, race, veteran or disability status. Receiving this certification from Fair Pay Workplace shows Cloudera is making progress on diversity and inclusion in the workplace. I am proud of our efforts and the progress we have made to strengthen the teams within our company.

Opportunity gap drives “median unadjusted” pay gap (otherwise known as the gender pay gap), a measurement of the average pay difference between all men and all women in a company. The median unadjusted pay gap is a raw number that looks solely at compensation rates across all Clouderans. The median unadjusted pay gap does not take into account various factors that differentiate pay at Cloudera, such as differences in roles, position levels, geographic locations, job markets, experience, or performance.

Cloudera’s median unadjusted pay gap as of July 31, 2023 was 19%. This means that before considering equal pay for equal work and additional factors the company took into consideration when determining compensation - women on average make 81 cents for every $1 made by men. However, after accounting for factors the company considered when determining compensation (type of work, job levels, performance, geographic location, tenure, relevant experience, and management responsibilities), women make on average $1.01 for every $1 made by men for similar work.

Cloudera is committed to democratizing access to the technology sector of the future, both internally and externally. We’ve already seen a 2% year-on-year (YoY) increase of Cloudera women occupying technical roles.

Internally, we continue to provide a dynamic range of learning and awareness opportunities, strategic analytics and measurement to ensure an equitable employee experience.  We also have had many community-driven events to increase inclusion and belonging. Externally, Cloudera partners with nonprofit organizations to provide industry-informed skills training for aspiring technologists.
