Management Team Tom Reilly Chief Executive Officer Expand Tom has a distinguished 30-year career in the enterprise software market. Prior to Cloudera, his most recent role was as vice president and general manager of enterprise security at HP. Previous to HP, Tom served as CEO of enterprise security company ArcSight , which HP acquired in 2010. Tom led ArcSight through a successful initial public offering and subsequent sale to HP. Before ArcSight, Tom was vice president of business information services for IBM, following the acquisition of Trigo Technologies Inc., a master data management (MDM) software company, where he had served as CEO. Tom currently serves as a Board Member for Jive Software, privately held Ombud Inc., ThreatStream Inc. and Cloudera. Tom graduated from the University of California, Berkeley with a Bachelor of Science Degree in Mechanical Engineering. Mike Olson Chief Strategy Officer Expand Mike (@mikeolson) co-founded Cloudera in 2008 and served as its CEO until 2013 when he took on his current role of chief strategy officer (CSO.) As CSO, Mike is responsible for Cloudera’s product strategy, open source leadership, engineering alignment and direct engagement with customers. Prior to Cloudera Mike was CEO of Sleepycat Software, makers of Berkeley DB, the open source embedded database engine. Mike spent two years at Oracle Corporation as vice president for Embedded Technologies after Oracle’s acquisition of Sleepycat in 2006. Prior to joining Sleepycat, Mike held technical and business positions at database vendors Britton Lee, Illustra Information Technologies and Informix Software. Mike has a Bachelor’s and a Master’s Degree in Computer Science from the University of California, Berkeley. Kirk Dunn Chief Operating Officer Expand Kirk uses his diversified range of technology engineering, marketing, sales and management experience to oversee Cloudera’s business operations. During his nearly 20-year career, Kirk has worked extensively with established companies, high-growth organizations and Fortune 200 accounts, successfully building strategic sales and product divisions, and leading international expansions. Kirk served as the CEO of PowerFile, Inc, which was successfully sold to Hitachi LG Data Storage, and was CEO of Bang Networks Inc. Prior to joining Bang Networks, Kirk served as Vice President of North American Field Operations at Inktomi. He came to Inktomi from Network Equipment Technologies, Inc. (NET), where he held executive positions in sales, marketing and professional services. Kirk also worked for IBM in senior sales positions. He holds a BA in mathematics and applied sciences from the University of California, Los Angeles. Jim Frankola Chief Financial Officer Expand Jim has over 25 years of experience in finance and operational leadership with global technology companies. Prior to joining Cloudera, Jim served as Chief Financial Officer at Yodlee, the leading provider of cloud-based personal financial management solutions, with 600 customers and more than 40 million users. In this role, he helped the company accelerate its growth and profitability as a SaaS provider of the premier personal finance data platform. Prior to Yodlee, Jim served as CFO of Ariba where he helped lead the company through several strategic initiatives including establishing Ariba as a leader in spend management solutions and transitioning the company’s business model from a traditional enterprise application vendor to a SaaS/cloud company. Earlier in his career, Jim held various financial and executive positions at Avery Dennison Corporation and IBM. A certified public accountant, Jim has a B.S. degree in accounting from Pennsylvania State University and an M.B.A. in international business and finance from New York University Leonard N. Stern School of Business. Amr Awadallah, Ph.D. Chief Technology Officer Expand Before co-founding Cloudera in 2008, Amr (@awadallah) was an Entrepreneur-in-Residence at Accel Partners. Prior to joining Accel he served as Vice President of Product Intelligence Engineering at Yahoo!, and ran one of the very first organizations to use Hadoop for data analysis and business intelligence. Amr joined Yahoo after they acquired his first startup, VivaSmart, in July of 2000. Amr holds a Bachelor’s and Master’s degrees in Electrical Engineering from Cairo University, Egypt, and a Doctorate in Electrical Engineering from Stanford University. Doug Cutting Chief Architect Expand Doug (@cutting) is the founder of numerous successful open source projects, including Lucene, Nutch, Avro, and Hadoop. Doug joined Cloudera in 2009 from Yahoo!, where he was a key member of the team that built and deployed a production Hadoop storage and analysis cluster for mission-critical business analytics. Doug holds a Bachelor’s degree from Stanford University and sits on the Board of the Apache Software Foundation. Jeff Hammerbacher Chief Scientist Expand Prior to co-founding Cloudera, Jeff (@hackingdata) conceived, built, and led the Data team at Facebook. The Data team was responsible for inventing and building powerful data analysis applications on Hadoop. That system is the core data platform at Facebook for improving the user experience and driving revenue. Before he joined Facebook, Jeff worked as a quantitative analyst on Wall Street. He earned his Bachelor’s Degree in Mathematics from Harvard University. Charles Zedlewski Vice President, Products Expand Charles (@zedlewski) joined Cloudera from SAP where he held various management roles in product strategy, management and operations. During his time at SAP Charles led the development of a half a dozen new and follow-on releases for products that supported some of SAP’s major growth initiatives in GRC, Sustainability, and EPM. Many of these products received substantial critical acclaim and collectively generated more than a hundred million dollars in new product revenues. Prior to SAP Charles held product roles at BEA Systems and venture backed software startups. Charles holds a bachelor’s degree from Carleton College and an MBA from MIT. Paul Beduhn Vice President of Field Technical Services Expand Paul Beduhn serves as VP of Field Technical Services at Cloudera, with more than 30 years of experience in the software industry. Prior to Cloudera Mr. Beduhn was Chief Executive Officer and President of Vision Chain Inc.. Mr. Beduhn also served as Senior Vice President of TIBCO in Palo Alto, California, where Mr. Beduhn was responsible for worldwide software and consulting revenues and staff, consultants and trainers. Mr. Beduhn has served in senior management positions at some of the fastest growth software companies including Inktomi, MicroStrategy, and Sybase. He graduated from the University of Wisconsin Madison with a degree in Computer Science and System Analysis. Mary Rorabaugh Vice President, Finance Expand Mary brings over 25 of finance experience to Cloudera, where she manages all aspects of Finance and Accounting. Prior to joining Cloudera, Mary was responsible for finance and accounting at Centillium Communications, including the merger with Transwitch Corporation. Mary has held senior leadership positions in both public and private companies, including Portal Software, Avanex, Symmetricom, Actellis, and Novalux. In addition, Mary spent five years with The Roda Group, a venture capital firm, where she worked with both the investors and the seed companies, serving as CFO at Polyserve, GameReady, and Touchpoint. Mary has raised extensive amounts of private equity and has been a part of numerous merger transactions, including the sale of Portal Software to Oracle Corporation. Mary holds a Bachelor’s degree in Economics and a Master’s degree in Finance, both from MIT. Alan Saldich Vice President, Marketing Expand Alan (@alsaldich) is responsible for developing and executing Cloudera’s marketing and communications strategy to support continued business growth and brand awareness. Alan joins Cloudera from Riverbed Technology, a 1,400-employee public company that develops high performance IT infrastructure solutions, where he served as Vice President of Product Marketing. With over 22 years of experience, he has held a variety of leadership roles in marketing, finance and operations at eight companies. Alan holds a B.Sc. in mechanical engineering from University of California, Berkeley, and an M.B.A. from Harvard Business School. Sarah Sproehnle Vice President, Educational Services Expand Sarah (@sarahsproehnle) leads Cloudera’s training and professional certification program, offering the most comprehensive resources available to master Hadoop and Big Data. She spent the past decade building world-class technical and professional training teams after a brief career as an engineer, and taught students from most of the Fortune 1000 through her involvement with education at Oracle and Hewlett-Packard. Prior to Cloudera, Sarah helped build the training organization at MySQL, which was purchased by Sun Microsystems for $1 billion. She holds a B.A. in computer science from Grinnell College. Tim Stevens Vice President, Business and Corporate Development Expand Tim is responsible for driving business development, strategic partnership initiatives and market growth strategies. Tim joins Cloudera from QuinStreet, where he served as Senior Vice President of Business and Corporate Development, as well as President of International Operations, all in support of the company going public during his tenure. Prior to QuinStreet, Tim served as Senior Vice President of Business Services at Borland Software and Senior Vice President of Corporate Development at Inktomi. Tim holds B.S. degrees in Finance and Management from the University of Oregon and a J.D. degree from the University of California, Davis. Bertrand Yansouni Vice President, Global Partner Sales Expand Prior to joining Cloudera, Bertrand served as Vice President of Worldwide Field Operations at Delphix, an early stage database virtualization company. Previously, he was Vice President of Worldwide Field Operations at Coverity, growing Coverity’s bookings for two consecutive record years in 2009 and 2010. Bertrand has helped design and execute highly leveraged go-to-market strategies for early stage to hyper-growth companies such as VMware and Riverbed. From 2005 to 2009, he served as Vice President of Channels for Riverbed, a leading company in the WAN acceleration space that had one of the most successful IPOs in 2006. Prior to Riverbed, Bertrand was part of VMware’s North American sales leadership team that helped the company grow revenue from $30 million to $350 million during his tenure. Earlier in his career, he held direct sales management positions at Spyglass, Informix and IBM. Bertrand holds a BSIE from Stanford University and an MBA from the Stanford Graduate School of Business. Steve Williams Vice President, Sales East Expand Steve brings over 25 years of data management, business intelligence sales and sales management experience to his role as Cloudera’s Vice President of Sales, East and EMEA. Prior to Cloudera, Steve served as Eastern Regional Vice President of Sales at Netezza for more than six years where he helped managed the team though an IPO and successful acquisition by IBM in November 2010. Prior to joining Netezza, Steve worked for various start-ups, including six years at MicroStrategy, where he held several positions in sales and sales management while helping build the organization for its successful IPO in 1998. Before joining MicroStrategy in 1996, Steve spent the prior six years as an individual contributor at Sybase in the WDC area. Steve holds a Bachelor of Science in Environmental Science from the University of New Hampshire. Peter Cooper-Ellis Vice President, Engineering Expand Prior to joining Cloudera, Peter (@pcooperellis) was Vice President Engineering for the Cloud Application Platform Division of VMware and Senior Vice President Products for SpringSource (acquired by VMware in 2009). Prior to SpringSource, he was Executive Vice President Engineering for the WebLogic Server product line at BEA Systems (acquired by Oracle Corporation in 2008). Before joining BEA, Peter held technical positions at Digital Equipment Corporation and National Semiconductor Datachecker.
